Members of the Peterborough Saxons Senior team took time out from preparing for the start of the 2012 season to hand out Easter eggs to children at Peterborough Hospital on Monday Morning 9th April.
The players talked to children, parents and staff on the Amazon Ward as they handed out the eggs, which had been kindly donated by Family,Friends and American Servicemen. We collected over 100 Easter Treats For the kids
Speaking afterwards, Saxon GM Ryan Toone & Head Coach Will White said the saxons were delighted to be able to give something back to the local community and plan on doing it on a regular basis:
“It’s never nice for children to have to spend time in hospital – especially over a holiday period – and we hope that our visit would give them a bit of a lift in spirit.
“It’s also massively important for us to show our appreciation to the staff on the Amazon Ward for all the fantastic work they do, and we are only too pleased to be able to do so in this way”.
The Saxons kick off their 2012 campaign against the Bedford Blue Raiders at Phil Cottier Field Saturday, 14th April. Kick-off is at 12pm, with free admittance for all.
